A lesson on gratitude

Our family home evenings lately have been happening...if you count watching the Olympics as a family, or going out to get frozen yogurt. They've been a little weak in content. So when I read Christianne's review of Why? Powerful Answers and Practical Reasons for Living LDS Standards on Goodreads, I picked up a copy at the library. Joey had the lesson tonight, and I cherry-picked a topic for him to cover: Chapter 24. Why Should I Be Grateful? He whined a lot about having to read the whole chapter, but ended up doing a great job. We might have to repeat this lesson until it sinks in. I think this is a book worth buying.

I also started another book Christianne recommended today, Disease-Proof Your Child: Feeding Kids Right. I'm hoping to avoid to colds, ear infections, strep and general misery that we've been plagued with this year! The kids had to eat all of their carrots and broccoli at dinner tonight in order to have the FHE treat. Even Ellie ate hers, which is a first.

Anyway, I'm grateful for goodreads, good books, good friend's recommendations and good foods.

Michelle, I love hearing a good review and am always looking for great FHE ideas. What do you think about it for younger kids or is it mainly for 12 and up?

Rachelle, with the exception of a few chapters on chastity, dating, pornography, which we are not quite ready to cover with all the kids, I think it's a great book for primary age kids. They also have a website that I want to check out: ldswhy.com.
